Welcome to this special press conference, possibly the last before the World Health Organization (WHO) declares the current outbreak overin our country.Today, I will speak about the overall EVD situation, the situation in Guinea, andSafe and Dignified Burials in the Western Area and the rest of the countryafter November 7. I will also update you on theplanned activities for November 7(D-Day).

Sierra Leone has gone for seven consecutive weeks without recording a positive EVD case and all districts have gone over 42 days without recording Ebola cases.

Welcome to today’s press conference. Today, I will speak about the overall EVD situation, the situation in Guinea, Safe and Dignified Burials in the Western Area and the rest of the country and what we all ought to be doing as we get closer to November 7 (D-Day).

I am pleased to inform you all that Sierra Leone has gone for six consecutive weeks without recording cases. This is a remarkable achievement in our fight against the EVD outbreak and as I have always stated in my past press conferences, we ought to be proud of ourselves for these achievements.

Today, I will give you update on the overall EVD situation in the country,speak on the President’s address to the nation last weekend on survivors, and give progress on the implementation of Project Shield for Ebola survivors.

I am proud to state that the EVD situation in the country remains encouraging, and today is day 25 of our national countdown to 42 days, when the World Health Organization (WHO) shall declare a break in transmission of Ebola in our beloved country.

The flooding last week prevented us from meeting, but I am glad you all are safe and let me on behalf of the NERC extend my condolences to families who lost loved ones and properties as a result of the flooding. I have extended the NERC’s commitment and readiness to assist the Office of National Security in managing the emergencies emanated from the flood.

Today, I will give you update on the overall EVD situation in the country,speak on the progress in implementing Project Shield for Ebola survivors, and remind you of what we all need to continue to do to sustain a resilient zero and achieve our countdown to zero plus 42.

I am proud to state that the overall EVD situation in the country remains encouraging, with no EVD positive case recorded in the country for the fourth consecutive week. Like last week, no patients were admitted for EVD and there are no quarantined homes.
